Risk Management Planner Pro
Build a board-ready enterprise risk register for a housing provider or community organization. Score each risk for probability and impact, before and after controls, on a five-by-five scale; set your board's risk appetite by category; plan treatment actions; and track key risk indicators against tolerance. The planner turns it all into heat maps, an appetite check, and a printable report to the board. Your numbers stay in your browser.
Welcome. Tell us who you are to get started.
The Pro planner is free until November 30, 2026. We ask for a few details the first time you use it on this device, so we know who the tool is helping.
1. Organization and scoring
Every risk is scored for probability and impact from 1 to 5. The score is probability × impact, from 1 to 25, and the bands below turn the score into a rating.

Probability and impact scales
Use these descriptions so everyone scores risks the same way. Probability is over the next 12 months unless your board sets another horizon. Financial impact is set from your annual operating budget; for the other columns, use the highest level that applies.
2. Risk appetite by category
Risk appetite is how much risk the board is willing to accept in pursuit of its goals. Each level sets a tolerance: the highest after-controls score the board will accept without further action. Averse 4, minimal 6, cautious 9, open 12, seeking 16. You can change any tolerance, and rename, add, or remove categories.
3. Risk register
Select a risk to open it. Each risk gets two ratings, each scored for probability and impact. Before controls is the risk if none of your current controls were in place. After controls is the risk today, with controls working as they actually do. Scores read before → after.
4. Treatment action plans
Actions that will bring a risk's after-controls score down, especially for risks outside appetite. An action is overdue when it is not complete or deferred and its due date is before the report date.
5. Key risk indicators
Early-warning measures linked to a risk. Set an amber (watch) threshold and a red (limit) threshold. Choose whether a higher or lower value is the worse direction.
6. Risk profile
There are no risks in this category yet. Add one in section 3 to see results here.

7. Heat maps
Each risk is placed by its probability and impact. Select a square to list the risks in it.
8. Top risks
Ranked by after-controls score, then before-controls score. Outside appetite means the after-controls score is above the category's tolerance.
9. Appetite and control effectiveness by category
Reduced by controls compares total after-controls scores with total before-controls scores. A low figure means current controls are doing little for that category.
10. Treatment plan status
11. Key risk indicator dashboard
12. Framework health checks
On track meets good practice, Watch needs attention before the next report, and Action should be fixed now.
